CTN

Czech Accreditation Institute, a public benefit corporation (hereinafter referred to as "CAI") concluded a framework agreement with the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (ÚNMZ) (hereinafter referred to as "ÚNMZ") on January 7, 2009. The conclusion of the agreement was the first step towards the creation of the Center for Technical Standardization (hereinafter referred to as "CTN") at CAI.

The activities of the CTN at the CAI are specified in the Annex to the Framework Agreement within the scope of competence of the CEN/CLC/TC 1 Criteria for Conformity Assessment Bodies. This agreement was terminated in 2016 and replaced by the Implementation Agreement No. 2017/0009/SC, which was concluded with the CAI by the Czech Agency for Standardization (ČAS), established as a state-funded organization by the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing (ÚNMZ). From 1 January 2018, the Czech Agency for Standardization took over from the Office for Technical Standardization all activities related to the creation, publication and distribution of technical standards.

The list of secured committees has been expanded in accordance with this new agreement to include the ISO/CASCO Committee for Conformity Assessment, ISO/TC 272 Forensic Sciences and CEN/TC 419 Forensic Sciences Services. The CTN CAI is responsible in particular for the ISO/IEC 170xx series of standards and the ISO 15189 and ISO 15195 standards for healthcare conformity assessment, which are used to accredit entities within the scope of the CAI.

The ÚNMZ, as the national standardization body, granted the status of CTN by the above-mentioned implementation agreement, mainly for the purpose of active participation in the process of creating technical standards at the level of international and European standardization organizations, adopting European and international technical standards into the system of Czech technical standards (hereinafter referred to as "ČSN") and creating original ČSN, especially in the area of conformity assessment.

The creation of the ČSN and the active work of the CTN presuppose not only a deep knowledge of the given issue, but also includes training and publication activities. CAI has rich experience in this regard.
