Accreditation means official recognition (represented by the issuance of a Certificate of Accreditation) that an inspection body is competent to carry out inspections..
The accreditation of inspection bodies is governed by the requirements of the ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012 standard (Conformity assessment - Requirements for the activities of various types of bodies carrying out inspection). An explanation of the application of this standard is given in the document ILAC-P15:05/2020 - Application of the ISO/IEC 17020:2012 standard for the accreditation of inspection bodies and MPA 80-01-.. Both documents are available on the CAI website.
According to the procedure agreed at the ILAC meeting, the validity of all certificates issued according to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17020:2005 was terminated as of March 1, 2015. The reason is the fact that they were issued according to a standard that is no longer valid.
If the inspection body requests accreditation of non-standard inspection methods (not based on the requirements of standards, regulations, European or sectoral documents that are generally recognized), it must request a review of such methods before submitting its application. The documents used for the review of non-standard inspection methods will be: EA-01/22A-AB:2023 a MPA 70-01-24 Procedure for reviewing supporting documents for sectoral certification schemes and non-standard inspection methods.
