Validation and verification bodies

"Accreditation means official recognition (represented by the issuance of a Certificate of Accreditation) that an accredited body is competent to carry out specific activities."

The accreditation of validation and verification bodies is carried out according to the accreditation standard ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17029:2020 Conformity assessment – General principles and requirements for Validation and verification bodies. For the verification and validation of environmental information, the requirements of the standard ČSN EN ISO 14065:2022 General principles and requirements for bodies validating and verifying environmental information are also applicable. The normative requirements are further specified in the methodological guide MPA 40-02 – “On the application of ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17029:2020. Conformity assessment – General principles and requirements for Validation and verification bodies in the accreditation system of the Czech Republic”.

Other documents for the accreditation of verifiers according to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17029:2020 are:

  • EA 6/03 M:2022 – EA document for the accreditation of verification bodies for the purposes of the EU Directive establishing a scheme for greenhouse gas emission allowance trading;
  • IAF MD6:2023 IAF Mandatory Document for the Application of ISO 14065:2020.

Both of these documents are available in Czech translation on these pages in the EA, ILAC, IAF and FALB Documents section.

The template for the notification made by the verifier to comply with the requirements of Article 77 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2018/2067 is available in English on the Commission website.
