"Accreditation means official recognition (represented by the issuance of a Certificate of Accreditation) that a certification body is competent to carry out certification of persons."
The accreditation of certification bodies certifying persons is governed by the requirements standards ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17024:2013 "Conformity assessment - General requirements for bodies for the certification of persons", as well as the requirements of certification schemes and, where applicable, EA-2/17M:2020. Further information is provided in MPA 60-01-22 Methodological guidelines for the application of ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17024:2013 in the accreditation system of the Czech Republic.
Documents are used when reviewing certification schemes EA1/22A-AB:2023 a MPA 70-01-24 Procedure for reviewing supporting documents for sectoral certification schemes and non-standard inspection methods.
CAI accepts applications for accreditation/extension of accreditation or issuance of certificates according to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17024:2013 only within the scope of the schemes published in List of certification schemes:
If the scope of the application for accreditation according to ČSN EN ISO/IEC 17024:2013 includes a certification scheme where the owner's consent to use is required, then this owner's consent to use the certification scheme must be documented during the assessment.
The documentation related to the accreditation process is listed below, including MPA 00-60-.. which sets out the rules for determining the scope of the assessment and the associated costs. An integral part of the assessment of applicants for accreditation is also the direct monitoring of their activities at their place of operation and the assessment of certifications demonstrated during operation (so-called "witness audits"). The selection of witness audits must be sufficiently representative and their minimum required number is based on the scope of the requested accreditation.
A complete list of documentation is provided in document MPA 00-02-.. Regulatory basis of the accreditation process and its annex.
In the European Union, accreditation and the outputs of accredited entities are recognized by individual authorities of the Member States, provided that the relevant accreditation body is a signatory to multilateral agreements on the mutual recognition of the results of the activities of accreditation bodies.
CAI is currently a full member and represents the Czech Republic in international organizations dealing with the accreditation of certification bodies:
